SPXS BASEBALL / SOFTBALL .....BATTER UP!

The number of girls interested in participating on the Middle School Softball Team was not enough to establish a team for the 2012 spring season.  With an increase in middle school students next year, there is still an oppurtuntiy to form a team in the spring of 2013.  Please contact Mr. Corsi if you will be interested in playing softball for the school for the 2013 season.

Boys Middle School baseball will be starting their season on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.  The practice field for the boys team will be at FLAX POND RECREATION AREA located off of White's Path in South Yarmouth.  Practices for the boys baseball team will be Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 2:30 - 4pm. This is a new practice location from the past years.  The boys baseball game schedule is posted under the 'schedules' tab, located on the left menu list.

              ***DROP OFF/ PICK UP INFO***

The SPXS basketball season is off to a great start!  The coaches have worked hard to set up practice plans giving your children a positive, learning environment.  Each day the players work hard to improve skills and learn the valuable lesson of sportsmanship during practice.

Since the SPXS basketball program has 37 players participating on one of three teams, I have established drop-off and pick-up procedures to foster smooth transitions before and after practices.  Properly followed, these procedures will allow each practice session limited disruptions and ensure the safety and supervision of players.

Drop-off and pick-up of players is at the double café doors located in the back of the building.
  • At drop-off, one of the coaches will be at the café door to let players in.  Please do not drop-off your child until you see that a coach is present and has let them in the building.  Please drop-off players as close as possible to the practice start time.  Players do not need to be 15 minutes early.
  • At pick-up, the coaches will accompany the players to the café doors and dismiss players directly to parents and/or carpools.  Practices end promptly at 4:00, 5:30, or 6:30.
Practices are closed to parents, siblings, family members, and non-participating students.  As practices progress, intra-squad scrimmages will be scheduled and provide you with an opportunity to observe.

Thank you for helping make transitioning for practices smooth.  By setting up this system, the coaches and players will utilize all of the practice time. During the first two months of the season the players will use this time to practice, with the games set for January and February.

Please use the Athletics web page for all information, photos, scores, update/changes on scheduling times and location, and all information for sport seasons.  This is a great way, for me, to communicate with each family.

PARNET VOLUNTEERS NEEDED...
This winter, SPXS will be offering a SPORTS STUDY HALL.  We need parents to help monitor the players, who stay after to work on their school work, before basketball practice.  Basketball practices and sport study halls will be held Monday-Thursday.  Please contact Mr. Corsi if you would be available to help out.
